‘Peaceful Journeys’ Anahita Harding at Tower Bridge

Peaceful Journeys a unique performance by Anahita Harding at Tower Bridge.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to experience a familiar place in a completely new way?  Artist Anahita Harding is bringing a thought-provoking performance to the Tower Bridge Walkways that will challenge your perspective.

I filmed this short video a few weeks ago and met Anahita.  It is surprisingly difficult to lay for long periods of time on the cold hard glass floor, looking down 42m below!

If you are fortunate to not suffer any afflictions concealed or visible it may be difficult to understand someone else's point of view.  How they navigate through life, either ignoring or overcoming obstacles.  Most of us will never complain or reveal what affects us, we just got on with it, because we have no choice.  You can't understand, how could you?  But if you listen, empathise and ask questions then it may be some understanding and appreciation.

Anahita Harding is a British-Iranian artist, who uses a wheelchair and Saturday 16th March, Harding will be positioned on the Tower Bridge Glass Walkway – not in her wheelchair, but cocooned in a sleeping bag and wearing an eye mask.

While Harding experiences a unique state of rest, visitors can amble by on the walkways whilst observing the London scene beneath the glass floor.  Imagine the iconic red buses, bustling traffic and people by from a completely new vantage point!  This captivating performance offers a stark contrast between the frenetic energy of London traffic and the serene space above.  Harding invites us to contemplate this duality, showcasing a new perspective on the city's vibrant landscape.
