MelenPhotography
Commercial photographer based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire
I'm an experienced photographer working in architectural photography, interior photography and construction photography across London and the South East, through MelenPhotography. Over 20 years I've worked with clients including Historic Royal Palaces, the V&A and Blenheim Palace, so whatever the building or the brief, I've most likely photographed something similar before. I cover projects from a single structure through to an evolving construction site, capturing progress and detail from the first brick to the finished building, and I use a 10m photography pole where an elevated perspective helps tell the story better.
Interiors need a different eye to exteriors — light, space and detail all matter more when you're working within four walls rather than around a whole building. I use a range of lenses, from wide angles that show how a kitchen or bathroom's appliances, cabinets and countertops work together, through to close-ups that pick out the finishes and fixtures properly. Mostly I work with available light, bringing in flash only where the room genuinely needs it, so the space still feels like itself rather than over-lit. Product photography, event photography and portraiture round out the rest of what I cover — from a single item shot cleanly for e-commerce and marketing, through to covering a whole event on the day. A specialism worth mentioning here is Persian rug photography, a genuinely niche corner of product work that keeps coming back to me. Whatever the item, the aim's the same: clean, impactful images that actually do the job they're meant for, rather than just looking nice sat on their own.
On the events side, I cover event, conference and graduation photography, along with portraiture and headshots done either on location or in studio. It's the kind of work where you need to be reliable and unobtrusive, capturing the moments as they actually happen rather than staging everything. Have a commercial photography project coming up?
